Polarity Mirrored: Breathwork Journey

  • Church of Truth 111 Superior Street Victoria, BC, V8V 1T2 Canada (map)

Manu and Reko are honored to be presenting this workshop alongside Ocian Ward, as we team up to bring you this dynamic breathwork experience.

This event, over the span of 4 hours will explore through various phases, the dynamic polarity between self and other. We invite each participant to come with a partner of your choosing, whether intimate, friend, or family.

****PLEASE BRING A PARTNER FOR THIS EVENT!***

---------------------------------------------

We will be exploring the balance and exchange through various forms of opposing forces - masculine and feminine, expression and witness, give and receive - through group and partner exercises before we dive into the breathwork portion of the event.

To begin we will enter the space together, sit together and listen together. What is alive in us will be allowed to move, emerge, and be expressed as we make our way towards the pinnacle of the event, the breath. The event is structured to gradually open up to deeper layers of emotions, stories, and deeply held beliefs, for a natural release through breathing.

Each facilitator is trained in various styles of breathwork, with different teachers. Together we are bringing our own skills that come from a common foundational understanding of how breath can be used to activate the nervous system, allowing for the safe and gentle release of stored energy/trauma. Breathwork is a deep journey of conscious, connected, and rhythmic breathing that activates deeply held emotions and trauma, allowing them to awaken and emerge into completion. It is conducted lying down, on a mat, in a space that is contained for a safe and supported release.

Breathwork is used widely for many therapeutic and psychedelic experiences. The activation of the body's sympathetic nervous system through continuous breathing through the mouth, in a safe container, is an incredible way to allow for the emergence and release of stored trauma which often has with it old stories about who we are and how we fit into the world. Releasing this trauma and by association, these stories, we can transform how we move through the world. Breathwork can be a very empowering experience. The facilitators are there to support the participants in their process and experience of release. However, due to the sensitive nature of this energy, and the group setting, we ask that each participant reach out if they are unsure if it is right for them.

He is presently studying Massage Therapy and building on his existing foundation of awareness and knowledge of the human body. Reko Reko has studied in Bio-Dynamic Breathwork Trauma Release System (BBTRS). BBTRS is a complete system of trauma release that centers around deep, connected breathing, and combines movement, bodywork, bio-energetics, somatic experiencing and other therapeutic techniques to support the release of trauma through complete expression. He brings together a potent and comprehensive healing practice. Reko runs a weekly men's group and is currently enrolled in the Massage Therapy program to learn even more about the physical and energetic aspects of the human body. --------------------------------------------- There is limited space and everyone must register in advance. We will NOT have enough mats for everyone so please bring something thicker than a yoga mat to lie on while you breathe. Tickets are $111 - $155 each. They can be purchased through the link above. Don't hesitate as we will likely be sold out in advance of the event. Please reach out if you have any questions: reko@vitalbydesign.org We acknowledge that this event will take place on the unceded Coast Salish territories*. We acknowledge and respect the first peoples who have shepherded for many generations, the land on which we live. It is also understood that acknowledging land does little if anything to rectify the injustices and history of oppression. This is not meant to be justice, it is a small gesture of awareness. *The term Coast Salish is used to encompass a number of Indigenous peoples, including Esquimalt, Hul’qumi’num, Klahoose, Lekwungen (Songhees), MALAXEt, Musqueam, OStlq’emeylem, Pentlatch, Scia’new (Beecher Bay), Sliammon, Shishalh, Skxwú7mesh-with Úxwumixw, Stó:lo, Straits, Tsleil-Waututh, T’Sou-ke, SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum), and Xwemalhkwu.
